Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

  • You are welcome to see me for psychological treatment with or without a medical referral. The booking process is the same and is outlined below.

How to Book Appointments

    • To enquire about making an initial booking with me, please get in touch via my Contact Form .

    • If you have a referral, please email it to me as part of your enquiry.

  • Once you have had an initial, in-person appointment with me, you can manage subsequent appointments via the Client Portal.

If you do not wish to use the client portal, you can book subsequent appointments with me directly at the end of each consultation. You can also email me to request appointments.

  • Due to their popularity, 5:15pm appointments can not be booked via the Client Portal. Please contact me via email to book these appointment times.
Please note, there may be an extended wait to book at these times.

  • If you’d like to book in sooner than what is available on the Client Portal, please email me and I can waitlist you for an earlier appointment.

Appointment Formats

  • I ask all new clients to see me in-person for their initial appointment. After their initial appointment and if it is clinically appropriate, clients can continue seeing me in-person, or continue via Telehealth (Zoom or telephone).
Clients can also move between these consultation formats to suit their needs on the day (e.g. you may need to change from in-person to Zoom if you have a cold). Please let me know via email if you need to change your appointment format.
My consultation fees are the same, regardless of the appointment format.

  • In general, I see clients for a 50-minute consultation. I charge my standard consultation (service) fee at the end of each 50-minute consultation and ask clients to be ready to make their payment at the end of their consultation.
My consultation fees are outlined below.

    • $275.00

    • This fee applies to all new clients.

    • This fee also applies to clients who have not seen me for more than 12 months.

    • $250.00

    • This fee applies to all consultations taking place within 12 months of your previous consultation with me.

    • The service duration and fees vary for couples’ consultations with me.

    • Please contact me directly to discuss these fees further.

  • DVA, ADF, NDIS and other Government Service fees vary and are set by the relevant government service. These fees are generally charged to and paid for by the government service directly. Please contact me for more information.

  • If your treatment is being paid for by third party (e.g., WorkCover, Private Insurer), you will be charged my Standard Consultation Fee. You can then recover the fee you paid with the third-party yourself.

  • Please contact me for information about fees relating to other types of services, including preparation of reports, letter-writing, and collaborations with other health-care providers.

  • Please note, Magenta Psychology is not a bulk-billing practice, and I am unable to offer bulk-billing (gap-free) services to clients.

Fees & Billing

Paying for Appointments

  • If you are paying for my service yourself, you will need to pay your consultation fee at the end of your consultation with me. I take payments via EFPTOS and can accept Mastercard and Visa (Debit and Credit) for in-person or telehealth appointments. I do not accept American Express or cash payments.
To help me run on time, please be sure to have your card, PIN, and payment amount ready for the end of our consultation.

  • You will need to pay me at the end of your consultation if:

    • You are seeing me privately (i.e., you have no medical referral).

    • You are seeing me under a referral from a GP or Psychiatrist.

    • My service is being paid for via a third-party payer (e.g., your workplace).

See below for how rebates can be claimed.

  • If your fee is directly and fully covered by a government service (e.g., DVA), I will invoice the government service directly. You will not need to make any payment to me.

Claiming Rebates

  • You will be eligible for a Medicare rebate if you have a current referral to see me from your GP or Psychiatrist. Your GP or Psychiatrist can refer you to see me under either a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) or an Eating Disorder Plan (EDP). Please talk with your GP or Psychiatrist to discuss whether you can get an MHCP or EDP. Click here for more information about these plans.

Rebates for services provided under a MHCP referral:

    • $137.05 (maximum 10 rebates per year)

Rebates services provided under an EDP referral:

    • $137.05 (maximum 20-40 rebates per year)

After you have paid your consultation fee, I will submit a claim to Medicare on your behalf. Medicare will then transfer your rebate into the bank account you have listed with them.

  • If you have seen me privately (you do not have a referral from a GP or Psychiatrist) and my fee is not claimable under a government service or third-party payer, you may be eligible for a rebate from your private health insurer.
Please contact your health insurer directly to find out about your eligibility for rebates and rebate amounts.

For more information see MBS Online.

Cancellation Policy

  • I will do my best to honour our scheduled appointment times and to run on time, wherever possible. If I need to change an appointment with you due to a clinical emergency or pressing personal matter, I will give you as much notice as possible, and work to reschedule you as soon as possible. I also ask that you give me as much notice as possible if you cancel any scheduled appointments. This gives me a better chance of booking in another client from my waitlist.

As a private business owner, I charge cancellation fees to cover the lost costs that are associated with late cancellations and non-attendance, as follows:

    • If you cancel your appointment less than 24 hours before your appointment start time, a 100% late cancellation fee will apply (see also Monday and post-Public Holiday cancellation fees below).

    • If you cancel your Monday appointment after midday the Friday before, a 100% late cancellation fee will apply.

    • If you are cancelling an appointment that falls on the first business day after a Public Holiday, you will need to cancel it by midday of the preceding business day. Otherwise, a 100% late cancellation fee will apply.

If you do not attend your scheduled appointment, you will be charged a 100% non-attendance fee.

I require outstanding cancellation and non-attendance fees to be paid before I allow clients to book new appointments. I may also cancel future appointments if cancellation and non-attendance fees are not paid.
